What is the difference between a 'Best Before Date' and a 'Use By Date'?

A 'Best Before Date' is advisory, giving advice when the producer believes the food is at its best. You may eat food passed a 'Best Before Date' but there is no guarantee of the product. A 'Use By Date' is just that you need to use or eat the product by that date. It could be unsafe to date food passed a 'Use By Date'. A reseller such as Victoria's Deli can not sell products that are passed either date.:

What shelf life can I expect?

We try to give the longest shelf life we can on all products, but due to the nature of artisan production where many products have less artificial preservatives and e numbers the shelf life is short. Most products should have a minimum of a month unless we have informed you. Some chilled products only come with a very short shelf life of only a few weeks. In this case we will advise you when there is less than a week to go.

What do you mean by British Produced?

We only sell items in which the final production is carried out within the UK. It would be impossible to only have UK grown produce as we'd have no spices, chocolate, coffee etc. We also focus on the smaller producers who produce their items in smaller batches with care and love
